Members xlr8tn Posted October 7, 2013 Members Report Posted October 7, 2013 Can someone who owns one of these fine tools give me a couple of measurements? Looking for 1) width at widest point when clam is closed and 2) length from top to hinge. Looking to fabricate my own for personal use only. When actually sewing, which side goes on top...hinged or long side? Thanks, Brent Quote
Members Roger J Posted October 7, 2013 Members Report Posted October 7, 2013 (edited) Hi Brent, I too am looking into these types of clamps. Though I do not have the exact information on the particular brand of clamp you mention, I did find some other useful links. Here is a link to a PDF of a clamp with measurements: http://www.crafts-de..._capacities.pdf And here is a video of another type of clamp in use: (it is in French though, but you can clearly see how it is used) Hope this helps, Roger Edited October 7, 2013 by Roger J Quote

Members Macca Posted October 7, 2013 Members Report Posted October 7, 2013 I posted pics of a few different types I have http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=42815&st=15#entry320732 If you can make it, I would recommend copying the second one, uses a leaf spring & clamps to a workbench the clam & the piece you are sewing are held very solidly the Blanchard type where you clamp the piece between your legs gets a bit tiring to use after a while, clamped to a bench you can work for hours.
