My First Pancake Holster

Not much call for handgun holsters in the UK apart from for CO2 or airsoft but thought i'd give it a try anyway.

The leather used is 4.5mm-5mm... Total thickness around the edge around 9.5mm.

It's not great, but reasonably happy for a 1st. The leather was way too thick to start any detail boning (or is it?)

Looks good. 4.5 - 5mm is really thick. Its equal to 10-12 oz leather. Id stick with 3 - 3.5mm 7-9 oz for pancake holsters. 3.5 mm can be detailed Im not sure it would be possible to get and real detail out of 4.5 -5mm leather.

The stitch line on the trigger guard looks pretty good considering the thickness of the leather. Id say for a first one you did very well.

Looks real nice. The only thing you may want to change is to not have the gun so deep. Bring it up a bit to give more clearance to the grip, so you can get a full firing grip as you unholster.

I like the color too.

Thanks - I couldn't think what else to use such thick leather for!

Yes, the colour is nice - I got a box full of offcuts - look to be maybe from the back, maybe the neck - which were an ideal shape and size for a pancake holster.

The gun does draw fairly well but, not owning the real thing, I didn't consider the full grip issue.

I'd say i'll do that on the next holster but there isn't much call for them here!
