timsrv Report post Posted November 2, 2013 Hi, I'm a newbie here & I'm an RV technician. To be efficient at my job I need to carry several small tools around. I used to buy and use the small nylon camera bags (that attach to your belt), but since I'm a pretty active guy (often crawling around under RVs), these things would typically tear out after only a couple months. About 15 years ago I went to a custom leather luggage maker in Portland, OR and he made me one of these out of leather. This was the answer! The bag was awesome, but like anything else it eventually wore out. So over the last 15 years, I've had 3 of these made (about 1 every 5 years). Now I'm ready for another bag, but unfortunately the luggage shop is now closed. I came here hoping to find somebody that can do a job like this. I don't need custom art work, I'm mainly interested in quality construction that's heavy duty & functional. If you're interested in this sort of job or know somebody who might be, I could send an old bag to use as a pattern. If I like the end result I may be interested in 2 or 3 of them. The approximate dimensions are 9" H X 5" W X 3" D. Here are some pictures: I'll monitor this thread for a few weeks, or you can contact me direct: Tim at TimsRV dot com. Thank you. timsrv Report post Posted November 5, 2013 Anyone? I am aware of the cost of this type of work and expect to pay a fair price. I am however lost as to where to go. I've emailed several custom leather shops (found on the internet), but so far nobody does this. Does anybody have a suggestion as to a business you might know of that may do this kind of thing? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated . Thanks. Tim
stanly Report post Posted November 6, 2013 tim: I'm interested, need to study your pics in detail on my own computer to be sure bag can be sewn on a flatbed. what's story on interior?
timsrv Report post Posted November 7, 2013 I just started talking to someone from this forum that has a Consew 206 RB and a heavy duty Boss by Tippmann. As you might suspect, I have no idea what this equipment is . How does this compare to a flatbed? Does it sound adequate for a job like this? The leather it's constructed from is pretty thick. I don't necessarily need the interior lined, but the luggage maker did that on this one and it's nice (I think it's a nylon fabric). There is a thick nylon (I think) divider that's sewn on the sides only & attached to the seams along the back corners. I like the divider and would want one on the new bag as well.
