I acquired this with some leather tools this weekend but haven't the faintest clue what it is other than maybe a creaser. Wood handle, brass neck and I'm not sure what the heck the tip is made of. Says made in Germany on handle, sorry for the pictures good camera is down. Any help would be greatl appreciated.

Agate tipped burnisher. Pretty cool, aren't they?

How common are these Bruce? And do they work well?

After doing some research I found they are used in gold leafing as well and the one I acquired is fairy old.

I have one, have seen a few others. Very pretty, nice for light burnishing and setting in folds.
