Members SACL Posted January 3, 2014 Members Report Posted January 3, 2014 Can somebody suggest a way to spray Fiebings tan-kote? I called fiebing's directly and they did not really have an exact amount to dilute for spraying. Or has anyone used Leather Sheen to finish projects? I'm making suspenders and belts and the finish needs to be durable. Thanks Quote
Members Cyberthrasher Posted January 3, 2014 Members Report Posted January 3, 2014 I use Resolene to spray - pretty much on everything. It's a LOT more durable than Tan-Kote and has UV/Water resistance. ALWAYS thin it 50/50 with water, regardless of how you apply it. Think of Resolene like Leather Sheen on steroids. They're both acrylic finishes, but Resolene is a far superior product. Why do you want to spray the Tan-kote? In my experience, it usually goes on really easy and evenly with a sponge, rag, or sheep scrap. Quote
Members SACL Posted January 3, 2014 Author Members Report Posted January 3, 2014 I used tan-kote once on a test piece and it left very bad streaks. I have always wanted to use the acrylic resolene but the local tandy store I use said to stay away from the acrylic resolene due to my interest in making suspenders and belts. Is the Fiebing's leather sheen spray (in a spray can) the same product as the resolene that you said to mix 50/50? Quote
