JGSalty Report post Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Hello everyone, I currently have no experience making anything out of leather, or making anything as a matter of fact, but would like to try. I have a fondness for leather items. The construction, durability, engineering and aging are all of the characteristics that I find impressively facinating with leather. Lately, I've been on a wallet/minimal wallet kick. Over the last year, I've amassed around 3 dozen. I strongly prefer US made items but will purchase anything of quality, at the right price. Some of the minimal wallets that I have, I think I could recreate (i.e. a card sleeve, etc). Nothing too complex but I'd like to try. So that's my story. No experience. Looking to try. Here to lurk and learn. Jerome Edited January 27, 2014 by JGSalty

midwestislander Report post Posted January 27, 2014 Welcome salty. you've come to the right place. Look through the "How do I do that" section, and the wallet subsection further down on the list. When you follow a link, at the end of the thread, scroll to the bottom and you will see a "related subjects" sections that will lead you to more posts about a (wait for it...) related post that others have questions about. Another good place to look at is the "critique my work" forum, where people (if they want) can get feedback about pieces they have done in order to improve. you will find answers to questions you didn't even know to ask about relating to what leather weights to use, dying, stitching, edging, finishing, etc. Good luck and enjoy, and be prepared to get lost in a search for perfection!
