Members jmkjmk2 Posted February 22, 2014 Members Report Posted February 22, 2014 Never seen this thing before. Looks vintage. I would really like to know what it is. Quote
Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted February 22, 2014 Contributing Member Report Posted February 22, 2014 looks like a groover, but with a sharpened edge. Maybe a cobbler's tool for cutting in a stitch line for a sole welt. Quote
Moderator bruce johnson Posted February 22, 2014 Moderator Report Posted February 22, 2014 Mike is correct, it is a channeler. They also make or made a variation with a loop type blade. Quote
Members leatherquestions Posted August 9, 2014 Members Report Posted August 9, 2014 Yes, it is a cobblers groover for stitch lines. I have used both types, cutting blade like this and grooving blade. It's use depends on the weight of the material being stitched and what type shoe sole you're stitching. The type in the picture would be used on dress sjhoes with a thinner leather sole than boots or work shoes. Tip Quote
