Having some fun trying out different techniques with this test:

1 Carving: Took some images, traced them into inkscape, produces SVG's then scaled them to fit the holster. Practiced some basic carving techniques, I need way more practice for sure...

2 Played around with painting, colored the flames and the background...used tandy acrylics for that...

3 Resist, couple coats of super sheen over the whole scene, letting it dry each step 24 hours....

4 Mahogany antique, slapped that on then buffed it off with a paper towel....

5 another coat of resisit, wait 24 hours

6 wet formed/glue/stitch. Still had some run off! Agh! Maybe I should have wet formed before painting step 2?

Any comments or feedback is appreciated!

Looks good. Did you dye the edges or was that antiqued too?
