Sharon Mallory Report post Posted May 4, 2014 Hi, I've got a couple questions I was hoping some of you experienced folks could help me with. It's about a sewing machine for bags, wallets and perhaps other things. I currently have an artisan 618-sc1 for leather which works pretty well for purses and such but occasionally has a tough time getting through some especially thick areas. The problem is access to area's I need as there's no free arm, so I am entertaining the thought of a different machine. There is a cowboy 2500$ used on craigslist in Phoenix for 1000$ but I'm not sure if that's what I should get. I'm tired of getting the wrong machine and having to keep getting the higher level one. I don't see too many others for sale in the area that will do what I want. I'd like that cobra 4 I see but it's a bit more but if I have to keep getting different machines on the way is it really cost effective? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks in advance. SkullCanyon Report post Posted May 5, 2014 Hi Sharon, That Cowboy in Phoenix is not going to be enough machine for you, I was considering it myself. I am in the same predicament with a Highlead 618-sc-1 I have. I make custom moccasins with it and sometimes run into trouble. I have bought and sold machines many times and am now saving my pennies for a new Cobra 4 premium package. It will sew anything you throw at it and has a lot of versatility. Sharon Mallory Report post Posted May 5, 2014 Thanks Kenny, I guess you just have to get a bunch of machines before you get the one you need. That's where I'm at too I guess. Still love my artisan and I don't think you get your money back out of them either. Sad.
