Members Horseshoe Posted May 9, 2014 Members Report Posted May 9, 2014 What should be used to refurbish and preserve old Civil War era leather goods in general. I want to assist a local Civil War historical site with the preservation and rehabilitation of the leather goods in the museum portion of the site and I'm just not sure what to use. I certainly do not want to destroy 150 plus year old historical artifacts. Quote
Members cem Posted May 9, 2014 Members Report Posted May 9, 2014 For things that old I would contact The Leather Conservation Centre in England www.leatherconservation.org They specialise in older stuff and would likely be able to give you the best advice or put you onto a conservator in America. I contacted them regarding some old leather sports equipment and they were very helpful. Quote
