DS STRAPS Report post Posted September 22, 2014 What is the proper knotting technique for sinew? Tied it in a knot and as soon as it got touched it started unraveling.
lranger Report post Posted September 23, 2014 I assume you're talking about artificial sinew. You just burn the end with a Bic lighter and it will melt into a knot. You have to be quick to blow it out so it doesn't burn too far. Keith
anhurset Report post Posted September 23, 2014 Every artificial sinew I've ever used has to be melted after knotting, knots alone simply will not work and even back stitching has a tendency to come undone. On the rare occasion that I use it, I'll finish with a surgeons knot, clip the tails short (1/8" or less), hit the knot with a lighter and then press it flat with the metal shroud on the lighter. Keith Thank you both! Thought to try lighting the ends but didn't want to mess anything up, much appreciated
