Members MuddyClearWaters Posted December 13, 2014 Members Report Posted December 13, 2014 I have three old singers that I love right now. 52W19 52W22 and a 110W124 They are all roller foot and are amazing for lightweight leather. However I'm starting to make motorcycle saddle bags and working with heavier leather and need something that can clamp and sew two or three layers of 6-7 hide and not skip a beat. My current post beds work ok but I'm worried about wearing them out putting all this wear on them with #138 thread and thick hides. I'm very partial to old Singers but I'm open to other suggestions. I'd say my max budget is $500 right now. Quote Custom Leather Bicycle Saddles and Accessories www.carsonleh.com Singer 110W124 Singer 52W19
Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted December 13, 2014 Contributing Member Report Posted December 13, 2014 an old 153 should do quite well....it doesn't have a reverse, but it sounds like you're used to the older machines that don't have one.
