Diesel2000 Report post Posted December 21, 2014 Hi everyone, Ive tried to find a Hello section but dont seem to see one so please take this a my Hello post! Im very new to leatherworking, last month I bought a shoulder of veg tan, some tools and oils and off I went. A few days later I had tooled, and made a solo motorcycle seat which although the tooling is quite poor, I was quite pleased with the seat as a whole (from bending the 2.5mm plate to hand lacing the thing). Im now wanting to learn how to decorate and paint my leather a bit nicer. I used the basic tan and black dye but I was hoping to find some kind of tutorial for highlighting and lowlighting with dyes. I also love the look of the saddles that are darker around the edges giving the impression of age although the saddle had been sat on for some time. Does anyone know wher I can find any tutorials to show these skills as im probably wording my searches wrong on Google? Next im hoping to find a sewing machine, ive got the typical Singer 99k which just doesnt really do the job but im looking for something upto about £300 on the second hand UK market. Ive noticed alot of machines mentioned on here arent readily available in the UK. Ive seen a Juki DDL in my range but unsure if this would do the job. Thanks for any help!
