Multi Size Bracelets

Recommended Posts

I've been playing around with multi size bracelets, so far I am not thrilled with most results, because of the tail left over from when they are sized all the way down, and the idea that I will have leftover snap parts (but I've been thinking about making covers for the extra snaps). so far I like buckles the most followed by snaps, then button studs or "jeans" Buttons. how does everybody else handle this? I just might stick to single size bracelets, If I don't find a method that I like.

What about a tie , or a holster type stud with a series of holes?

Another way would be to make a standard bracelet with a stud/snap at each end, then have a series of different length fillers that attach to the bracelet.

So the problem isn't as bad as I made it out to be, but I just don't like the compromises I have to make for adjustability.

Biggun, I like your idea of the filler, and I thought about a belt keeper and discarded it, I think I'll give it a try and see how I like it before I throw it out completely.

I had problems with that, too. I finally ended up putting one bracelet up for sale, and saying I'd make the same one to the customer's size specifications. It didn't really matter to me if I made it before or after they bought the bracelet. However, it was ultimately such a pain I stopped making bracelets altogether.

How about using 2 pieces of leather strap, one end of each has the mating stud and button.

The opposite end is punched with a double row of holes (with extra holes for adjustment) then laced together for the length to fit. For smaller wrists, it may limit the amount of decoration, but would be nice just as a plain band, dyed and finished.

I keep bracelets made up with one snap, and I keep the tools with me at shows and make up sizes as needed. But I do have a couple sizes made up for what sales good. What ever works for you.

I start out with mostly 8" but on Mens I start out with 9" and a couple of 10"

What about a layered bracelet with a soft steel inner piece? That way you just bend to fit.

The old Boy Scout kits were that way. Two pieces with the steel core which was laced around the edges. They also did them with the plastic lacing material like Rexlace. Those were just woven around the steel core.
