Chief31794 Posted January 24, 2015 Report Posted January 24, 2015 Fiebings makes a good product called "Aussie", it is a Beeswax/Neetsfoot Oil compound that will seal against water and snow. There is another product called "Sno-Seal" however, I've never used it. I'm assuming the boots are leather, if so the Aussie will do a great job, apply it liberally, heat it with a heat gun or blow dryer until it starts to liquify, then wipe off the excess. It can be reapplied as needed. You can buy it from Tandy or Springfield Leather Company online and probably from other places as well. Chief Quote
Members BIGGUNDOCTOR Posted January 24, 2015 Members Report Posted January 24, 2015 I have used Sno-Seal on all of my hiking boots, and love it. I heat it up some to make it easy to spread, then use a hair drier , or an oven to warm the boots up to soak it in. I usually apply up to 3 coats, or enough to where it starts leaving excess on the surface. Make sure you get it in good around all of the stitching, and the welts. Don't forget the tongue. Quote

I found some, Skidmore's beeswax waterproofing I purchased a long time ago. Never used it yet, when you mentioned the "Aussie" w/beeswax, I thought of the Skidmores. I'm going to give it a try today. Just in time for the snow comming today. I'll report on how it workes. Edited January 26, 2015 by craftsman827 Quote

Thanks for the info. I just found a brand new can of " Skidmore's waterproofing" in my locker. Just in time, were getting 2 feet of snow today. Quote
Members Basically Bob Posted January 26, 2015 Members Report Posted January 26, 2015 Another product that works well is Montana Pitch Blend leather dressing. I use it on my leather boots during the winter season and it works well. Two applications gets me through the winter. Quote
Members BIGGUNDOCTOR Posted January 27, 2015 Members Report Posted January 27, 2015 Many waterproofers don't work with snow due to it not having the surface tension that water has. Quote
