Anyone Have Experience With Typical Gc 20606-1 ?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I usually sew heavyweight nylon goods such as Cordura, now i would like to expand my machinery capabilities to stitch LeatherGoods
After countless browsing on this forum, i narrowed my choice between 2 machines on my budget

  • Juki DNU-1881
  • Typical GC 20606-1

As Far as I know, The Must Have Feature on leather Sewing Machine :

  • TripleFeed/Compound Feed/Unison Feed
  • High Foot Lift (Typical GC 20606-1 = 13mm[The manual book said it's 16mm] , Juki DNU-1881 = 16mm)
  • Servo Motor (This is the only one i could get HMC ZYT116-13H)
  • Speed Reducer if Possible

Unfortunately In my place(Indonesia) most of the machines listed in LW Forum considered as 'Exotic Machines'. Even Juki 1541 considered as 'Not Affordable' by the Machine Dealers
The Machines i could find in dealers mosty China brand & i don't have access to acquire another machines such as except two above.

Juki 1881 is a 'Top-Bottom feed' which considered not optimal for sewing leather goods & some of LW member said that it will mark the leather

Meanwhile the Typical GC 20606-1 is a 'Triple Feed' machine, but it seems like a 'high risk bet' if i ended up purchasing it meanwhile this machine isn't familiar with LW members

I see on youtube a leatherworker from russia using the typical ones, but unfortunately i can't speak russian & using translate tools doesn't help me to understand his opinion regarding his machine

I would like to hear any opinion about those machines, especially about 'what they can do' & 'what they can't do'

I guess this Typical GC 20606-1 isn't a popular choice.

But, somehow i'm attracted to triple feed feature it has

For little more price than Juki DNU-1181N

As Far As I Know, This machine is a direct copy of the Mitsubishi LU2-4400(Single Needle) simmiliar to HighLead GC20618

Regards,
