Goods Japan End Punches?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has purchased any of the end punches from Goods Japan and has

an opinion they can share? They seem to carry 2 brands that are about the same price, Leathercraft

and Kyoshin Elle. I would love to hear any opinions good or bad.

I have bought many tools from here, and they have all been good quality, sadly i hve not bought the strap end punches so cannot help with that.

No problem Julie, forgot to mention though goods Japan is free postage, leathercraftools.com is not, however they still seem to work out much cheaper than goods Japan. I once heard that there are only a few manufacturers of leatherwork tools in Japan who supply to many different companies and looking around the sites it does seem to be the case, many of the tools appear identical with different names on them.Also Leathercraftools do deliver quite quickly as well. Woah, nearly forgot to mention if you bring goods into the country from outside europe with a value of more than £15 you can be subject to import duty, however the punches from leathercraftools come to less than £15 so you should be ok, but please do not shout at me if they try to charge you, good luck

Check out Nigel Armitage you tube videos on his reviews of many of the irons and chisels. They are great and gives you a lot of info.

Thanks Oldhat! Have you used any of the LC Diamond hole punches? Ive poured over Nigels videos and as you said the prices on this website are great. Just wondering if anyone has used any of the stitching punches.

Yes Julie, i have two full sets of the lc diamond punches , i have the 4mm and the 3mm sets, i find these two sets do everything i need. I have had them for a while now and i cannot fault them.The 4mm set is the one i use the most, saving the 3mm for finer work. I just take care to always put a thick piece of leather under my project to protect the prongs and make them last longer.I also got the roller of them, it is fantastic and miles cheaper than anywhere else. I am thinking of starting to buy some of their stamps as they are cheap too, and hopefully good quality.

Thanks for the response. I wanted to try a few of the 3mm irons and the price is amazing, even with shipping. I was wondering what type of things you are stitching? I was going back and forth on whether to get the 3mm(8.5 dpi) or 4mm(6.4 spi) irons but from all of the videos I've watched thought the 3mm may be a better choice for me. I plan on stitching mostly smaller items like dog collars, wallets, ect.

I also plan on purchasing a 1/2 dozen of their stamps to try them out. I'll let you know how they are. Although most of my stamps are the less expensive Tandy stamps so Im not sure I'll be a great judge.

Keep in mind they have punches in half-mm increments as well. You could try the 3.5 if you can't decide between the 3 and the 4.

I have punches from LCT and love them. Shipping is surprisingly fast as well with the middle option ("registered small packet").

Thank you so much Doe!!! Im not sure how I missed that size but Im so grateful you pointed it out. 3mm was a little to small and 4mm was a bit to big. 3.5 is perfect.

I just looked them up on the website and your link work perfectly but if I don't use your links I can not find the 3.5 mm ones. How did you find them?

I'm glad I could help! I go to the tools menu, then hole punches, then "LC Diamond Hole Punch PRO." The half-mm ones are listed separately at the bottom of the page.

Blimey, i never noticed the 3.5mm chisels either, Julie i reckon that size will be perfect for dog collars and wallets and the like.you are spot on with your thinking about 4mm being s bit too big and 3mm being too small, 3.5mm would be just right, hang on have i just fallen into the three bears childrens story.
