Jumbah Report post Posted October 15, 2015 My mom recently broke her Kindle holder and asked if i could make her one. Well all i've ever done is some pre-cut kits from tandy and the likes. But I feel that my pattern and design should be pretty straight forward, easy to handle, and give me a good final product. I just have a few questions that I'm having trouble getting answered by just searching around. So I thought I'd ask here. Mainly, Buffalo?? I'd like to make the entire project out of buffalo but I have never worked with it so I have no clue as to what its gonna be like? It looks like buffalo is pretty cheap but I'm not too familiar with how leather is priced (as i said i've only ever bought kits before.) So i see on Springfield leather its priced at 8 bucks? Is that per square foot like most things? I was looking at the Cutallas and it didn't say per sq foot like everything else did so i'm confused... Also, is Buffalo a good tooling leather? I'd like to personalize the front and back covers for her a little bit so its just a little bit more special. And lastly, does buffalo have some give to it while still being firm? My mom has arthritis so her hands are really weak, so if I were to make it out of regular leather I was going to make a welt similar as to how i would for a knife sheath just so its easier for her to pull it out.
