Members jpless77 Posted October 29, 2015 Members Report Posted October 29, 2015 I've recently been making firefighter shields. On test pieces I've been finishing them with lci clear-lac for moisture resistance and hardness. I'm looking for an alternative because I'm naturally concerned with the flammability although Cairns leather fire hats are dipped in pine resin and painted with enamel paints. Am I being overly cautious or should I use tan kote, resolene, etc? Thanks. Quote
Members Studio-N Posted October 30, 2015 Members Report Posted October 30, 2015 clear lac is a good product, but i still think a good wax finish over the top is a good way to go. I like the Aussie conditioner (beeswax) myself. Quote
