Members Aftershock51 Posted November 20, 2015 Members Report Posted November 20, 2015 I am new to leatherworking and I want to make unique wallets. I don't want to use veg tan because none of the dyes come close to the colors I want. Is upholstery leather good for making wallets? I am looking at buying this leather in particular: http://springfieldleather.com/41117/Hide%2CUC%2CWaxy%2CCobalt/ Also, is upholstery leather actually made of real leather? It looks very...artificial. I need the wallets to be durable and not look cheap & plastic-y. Thanks Quote
Members jk215 Posted November 20, 2015 Members Report Posted November 20, 2015 Just like with veg tan there are different grades. If you are looking at springfield something like this: http://springfieldleather.com/18742/Hide%2CKampelli%2CBrandy%2CSqFt/ looks really nice. Ive been eyeing it up myself for some wallet products. The cheaper stuff looks more "artificial" because it is usually highly processed and coated with all kinds of stuff. Quote
