Members jlrowe Posted December 1, 2015 Members Report Posted December 1, 2015 Im working on some pieces to make a cue case and all the pieces came out pretty consistent(fiebings saddle tan), I thinned it slightly and very happy with the color especially the shoulder pad(thanks Dwight that was the color i was looking for). The piece im having problems with is with a heavy strip of 11 oz. im going to be using on the main body(bottom right in pic.) I dyed it same as other pieces and when it dryed it was almost same color as it was before i dyed it. So is added another coat wasnt much better. So i figured i would try full strength and guess what brown color with almost no color in spots. What do you think is the problem? I have never worked with that thick of leather I usually work with 5-6 and 8-9oz. Was it just soaking it up? Anything i could have done different to get a consistent color? I cleaned all the leather with alcohol and water with a sponge. Do you think if i apply another coat thinned it will match or do you think it will still be too dark? I think im going to start just ordering drum dyed skirting from W&C and skip the dying process not much choices of color but lot less stress. Dwight i tried to message you but it said could not receive messages. I know you could definitely help me out on this. Quote
