Ringer Report post Posted December 5, 2015 Hi there, I have a Punching Chisel (not pricking iron) that I want to sharpen. Can anyone tell me how to do this? It doesn't seem to have angled prongs like a pricking iron, they just seem to lay straight. It's a F & J Dixon. What would that make it age wise ? Many thanks for your help
Ringer Report post Posted December 6, 2015 Surely someone must know how to sharpen one of these.. ?
simontuntelder Report post Posted December 6, 2015 Whetsone/fine grit emerypaper, a couple of fine grit jewellers files and maybe a bench grinder for final polish. It's called a strap pricker and I don't think you should sharpen it too much.
zuludog Report post Posted December 6, 2015 Sharpen with a couple of needle files and some fine wet & dry paper glued onto a sliver of wood like a lollipop stick
