Members whyman Posted February 12, 2016 Members Report Posted February 12, 2016 I have no idea where to put this so i figured here was my best bet. I just got a commission from a friend to make a pair for her skates. quick google search, and i come up with this website: http://diyrollerderby.blogspot.com/search?q=toe+guards My question is if Anyone here has ventured to attempt this sort of thing before? any comments and questions are welcome. Members ConradPark Posted February 12, 2016 Members Report Posted February 12, 2016 Hi, the site you refer to is giving a nice pattern away for free, with very clear instructions for a very simple project, maybe I am missing something here, but what exactly is it you're wondering about? Quote
Members whyman Posted February 12, 2016 Author Members Report Posted February 12, 2016 I'm simply wondering if i am the only person who has been asked to make a set of these. Whether with this pattern or with a different one. Quote
Members TinkerTailor Posted February 12, 2016 Members Report Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) If I were to do it, I would make them wet formed to the actual skate out of veg tan. I would also not put a seam on the edge of the footplate on the sides because this spot hits the ground when you fall, it is right at the bottom outside corner of the skate. Stitching is not likely to last long here. Wet forming, you could do it with one center seam on the bottom. I have not been asked to make them, but I just might make some samples to bring into a roller derby shop near me......
