It's been almost a year since I did a 6 plait and I only did it once, I have gail's braiding book but I still can't follow it, can someone help me...I've got to figure this out again.

I know how to do both 4 and 8, if that helps anyone.

A flat one or a round one?

For a round one, I like U2, O1 for one side, U1, O2 for the other side. Just go back and forth from R to L, like you do in an 8 round.

OK, I've got about 6 inches braided, it looks good. But I was wondering about the terminal knot, I'm assuming 2 sides with 1 string and 2 sides with 2 strings, or is the terminal knot done differently? Probably a silly question but I just wanted to know if there is something I should know.

I doubt there's a "right way". The way I do it is two strands in each part of the knot. It makes it more even, in my opinion. But maybe that's just me...

I was connecting the two ends together so it worked out okay, my problem came when I went to tighten the terminal knot and I broke one of the strings down low in the knot. The piece just doesn't look right and I'm not sure it will hold over time. I'll have to see if I can make it shorter. It was the stretchy part of the hide so sometimes it doesn't work out, even when just plaiting.

Thanks for the help, you too Dick. I really need to do 6 plait more often. I also need to find a 12 plait project, I've never done that. I"m looking in Grants book and would like to make a quirk.
