AddMan Report post Posted March 13, 2016 Hi all, New to making boots here. I know the basics about leather and boots, however there exists a dizzying amount of information on the Internet that I am struggling to find clarity and consistency in while trying to further educate myself. I know a lot of that will only come with experience and time. In the meanwhile, I am seeking anyone out there with a good and comprehensive knowledge about various types, tans, and sources of leather used for boots and shoes of all sorts--work, dress, and anything in between--that would be willing to talk with/at me on the phone a bit? At least for a bit of a jumpstart on the process. Ultimately I would like to learn to make a variety of boots and shoes, and hope to at least begin to build a basic understanding i could offer to potential customers and their questions. I am located in the US, in the pacific time zone. I don't have a phone number of my own currently, but if anyone is willing please pm me a number and a good time to call (and your time zone!), and I will try you. Much appreciated in advance! Likewise, for that matter, I have been reading for weeks...but if anyone knows of any particularly comprehensive and/or reliable sources of published information that might speak to this, I would be quite interested in that as well. Cheers,
