I'm a noob so I apologize if this had an obvious answer.

I recently made a briefcase for myself in a color I wanted. My father has asked me to make him one in a "dark brown." I have a beautiful side of Horween Vermont (veg tan and full grain) that is the color of chocolate milk and matte finished. What is the best way to make this darker? Here are some things I'm considering

  1. Dye with Fiebings black dye
  2. Dye with Fiebing light brown dye
  3. Neatsfoots oil (several coats)
  4. neatsfoot and sunshine

I have no idea how they will turn out so I figured I would ask the collective brain trust. Whatever I do, I'll be sure to try out on some scrap.

Also, once it's dyed and assembled, I need to finish coat it. I'm thinking of neatsfoot and beeswax all over the bag. Will that be a good enough finish or do I need to use another product?

Thanks
