Members Bognosh Posted September 22, 2016 Members Report Posted September 22, 2016 (edited) Hello everyone, I was thinking of making a custom tooled horse halter, and I'm unsure what oz leather to use. I figured the thicker the better cause horse are obviously really strong animals. however I dont want the turned ends to crack when fold them over. Has anyone had success making some? Also my apologizes for the three threads under this title, I have no idea why it did that, I clicked submit once, it said error wait 7 seconds , so i did and clicked again. I'm not trying to spam Edited September 22, 2016 by Bognosh Quote
Members impulse Posted September 22, 2016 Members Report Posted September 22, 2016 Here is a custom halter made by a student of mine. It is made using 4mm harness leather (10oz). Always fold the leather when wet to avoid cracking and I always use stainless steel hardware. Make sure you use a quality leather dressing to restore the natural oils after the leather has dried from casing. Cheers, Lois Quote
Members Bognosh Posted September 23, 2016 Author Members Report Posted September 23, 2016 wow what lovely work, your clearly a good teacher. I plan on dying the leather do you have any recommendations for that?, my only other concern is that the neatsfoot oil will darken the colors. what do you recommend? Quote
