Coverage with Fiebings Professional Oil Dye

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

Been lurking on this forum for a very long time now. Guess this is as good a time as any to start getting involved.

I mainly make wallets and other small goods with 2-3oz and 4-5oz leather from W&C and have been dyeing with vinegaroon and walnut husk for about two years now with good but fairly variable results. Planning to move soon to ready made dyes very soon. I am located in India and the cost of acquiring these dyes in small quantities is ridiculous at ~$80 per quart. Thought I better ask a few questions before I make an investment:

  1. How much coverage (sides/sqft whatever measure you use) should I expect with Fiebings Professional Oil Dye or the regular Fiebings Dye
  2. Is there a substantial difference between the two types of dyes (Professional vs regular)? Any photos of a comparison would be a tremendous help.

Thanks,

Gaurav
