sanket Report post Posted January 28, 2017 Hey Guys, My name is Sanket Shikhare from India. I run a company called Sharav (www.sharav.co.uk) which manufactures high end leather goods for India as well as Export market. To assist our financial position we also manufacture corporate gifting items in bulk (made out of leather). I started this company 2 years ago out of my love for leather and innovative designs. I am an MBA and an Electronics Engineer by qualification but now in love with Designing and making Bespoke leather items for people who really need something which only they own. In India, there is hardly any one today who makes bespoke leather goods (barring shoes, saddlery) which are 200% handmade. Watching many Youtube videos, I learnt basics of handcrafting. Today i make personalised items for people in India. Things I Do 1. Using 100% veg tanned Buffalo leather crust 2. Dyeing the leather. I invite clients to my studio and make them play with colours and patinas 3. Pattern making 4. Hand cutting the leather. I try to avoid joints in my project (I know there is wastage involved here, but i prefer giving the best to my client with uniform look) 5. Moulding leather 6. Manual skiving with Japanese knife 7. Hand saddle stitching 8. Edge beveling and manual edge burnishing Things I would like to learn (Currently outsourcing these to artisans in India) 1. Hand carving 2. Pyrography I am attaching a few of my projects for the critique and and encouragement too. (oops files cannot be uploaded...it is showing error -200) Sharing the link to my google drive for pics: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B2BRvuxsR-MhMDg5YTZ5bF9MZ0U?usp=sharing Also looking forward for some orders which will boost my confidence in this bespoke arena.
