Weldwood Contact Cement Gel

Has anyone used the Weldwood Contact Cement Gel?

I normally use the regular stuff, but in a rush the only thing available locally was the gel.

How does the strength of the bond of the gel compare with the regular contact cement?

I was using it to put a leather cover on some diaries our church gave to mothers this past week.

It was definitely easier to work with, spreading with a brush or putty knife.

I was just wondering if others have used it (gel) and can comment on the strength of the bond compared to the regular contact cement.
