Members Skizzer Posted April 12, 2019 Members Report Posted April 12, 2019 Howdy, New to the site, just a guy who does fairly repairs and occasionally basic fabrication. Been at it a long time, but consider myself a pretty rank novice. I've been using hand sewing awls containing thread and wanted to try using harness needles. Finally got a copy of Stohlman's Hand Sewing and he recommends "egg eye harness needles of size 4 or 5". Tried to go online and buy some, but the sizes don't seem to be the same, in fact they appear reversed: their Size 4 is 48mm length X 0.9mm dia. Stohlman's drawings look like his needles are at least 3 inches long. What am I missing here? Thanks. Quote
Members heydox Posted April 12, 2019 Members Report Posted April 12, 2019 Hey Skizzer. Big welcome to you. This thread covers your issue really well. Short and skinny of it all- buy a pack of John James Saddlers Harness Needles in size #2 (002) Quote
