flat slotted, feed-dog-less needle plate for 441

Recommended Posts

This may not be an issue for those of you who don't stitch anything thinner than 8oz, but for those of you who have the flat slotted, feed-dog-less needle plate, do you by any chance notice that the plate itself sits lower than the standard blanket foot plate with protruding feeddog, if your machine did indeed come standard with that blanketfoot plate?

Thanks,

Ed

Hi Ed,

If so, only by a 16th inch at most. My outer feet sit on the plate and and the center foot goes in the hole (where the feed dog would go. Both my plates and feet are Artisan. I think they have their feet and plates made for them and are not the stock Chinese ones. Check with Dave for sure.

Hi Art,

I've got to dig out my stock blanket plate to be sure, but it seems like there is 1/16" to 1/8" difference between plates. I'll probably figure a way to shim up the plate.

By the way, the feet you are referring to are the artisan inner groover and outer double-toed harness maker's foot, right? And the bottom groover of the inner foot is what goes inside the slot of your needle plate? Or are you using the blanket/nylon plate without the feeddog, which would mean that the slot for the needle is a rather largish rectangle, instead of a narrow elongated oval?

Thanks for taking the time to help me figure what setups others are working with.

Ed
