ooshs Report post Posted September 10, 2008 Hi, i am new to this. I sort of like to try making my own leather watch strap, but not sure how to go about it & what tools to use (for cutting, for sewing ..etc) Not sure if anyone here can advise ? Any books or resources that i can reference ? cheers
TwinOaks Report post Posted September 11, 2008 Hi and Welcome to Leatherworker.net! There's lots of different styles of watch bands, and we'll be glad to help you figure out what you need. Could you give us an idea of what type of band you want to make? Thin, thick, sewn, laced, stamped....these are things that will help us guide you in your effort. I would like to make leather straps without padding in between. Thickness between 3.5mm to 5 mm. Preferably sewn with stiches on the edge. i got many questions like do i use a single piece of leather, or stick 2 pieces together, how do i make the side (with spring bar) that is attached to the watch lug .. so on. Any advice is much appreciated. Thankyou.
