This is how I make cloth lined wallet pockets. I use a chasing hammer on the glues parts and folds. Which is important for good results. Be generous with the glue and make sure you don’t try to stick the pieces together before the glue is ready. I use Weldwood Contact Cement and I refill my tiny bottle from 32oz cans. For thin calf skin, get a rotary fabric cutter and keep the blade razor sharp. I cut 4” wide strips from a sturdy fabric. 2 of them will be 4.5” long while the rest will be 3” long. The 4.5” long pieces will be used with the back most pocket and will extend to the bottom of the forward most pocket. This gives a nice large pocket that can hold cash, vertical…

I've really struggled with wallets. Looking at an ancient wallet in my stuff, I realized that the inner layer is shorter than the outside main body of the wallet! Probably not a news bulletin to lots of people here, but it was to me. It solves the lumpy folding problem I've been plagued with. Here's a pic.

This is a belt I made for my son. The pattern takes up 32 inches. There are a total of 378 a impressions. The total stamping time time was 90 minutes not including layout and cutting the boarder. Since I'm pretty new at this I'd like to know how long it would take you all to do the same amount of work. To date I've made 4 basket stamp, this one geo and one carved/tooled belt. I've turned folks down because I want to get my skills up and determine appropriate pricing as well as being able to set reasonalbe goals for the amount of time it takes me to completely make a belt. Here is a cell phone case I just finished. It is for a blackberry type phone. I used HO leather 6-7 oz.for the main body with 3-4 oz for the gussets. I also lined it with some 2-3 oz leather. sewing in the gusset was a little tough but it worked out OK. Let me know if you see anything that I can work on to make it a better case. Mark

I didn't think this attachment through. I need to attach the strap on the picture to the patch. There will be 2 more of the same at the other end. These suspenders have a single strap on the back and 2 in front. I could lay the patch on the strap and sew it, but that gets really thick. I just can't visualize a solution that doesn't look clunky. Thanks for any ideas.

DoogMeister brought up a point I'd seen people (including myself) wresting with: Accidentally wiping off too much antique paste (no matter how dry) applying final top coat like Resolene. I'd seen someone say they had success with a light touch by alternating use of Resolene and Tan Kote... like maybe they Tan Kote'd for resist, then were careful with the Resolene as top coat? Of course air-brushing can help because there's no brushing or wiping or even dobbing. I was given a silver buckle that has a 2" loop soldered on - no swivel. I think it is called western style with a simple peg clasp that goes through the hole in the belt. I want to buy a lether belt blank for it, but one that fits my pants has to be 1 1/2" wide. How do I attach the blank and keep it centered in the loop?

I just saw the previous clip on making a leather keeper and i decided to post a very short clip of me making a metal( brass) belt keeper using a die. I have had the die made few weeks ago when i thought it's a good idea to replace the lether keepers with metal ones and have that end of the belt less bulkier . Initially i made the die to have keepers made for my dog collars and i thought it looks nice enough to use it for my belts too. This is pretty cool. It looks super thin and pretty cheap too. If I was making a bunch of wallets to sell I put this in every one of them as an additional selling point. It's so cheap you wouldn't have to pass much of an additional cost on to your customers. If I make another wallet for myself or a family member I plan on putting this in it. Like why not.
