New Guy With A Groover Question

Recommended Posts

I prefer to use a stitch groover as I think it makes the stitch sit down in there nice and looks professional. i have tried stitching without a groove but dont prefer it. My groover gets clogged pretty easy and then tends to jump around on the leather and make my straight line rather crooked. Is there something I am doing wrong or can do differently? Its the Tandy groover that has the tip that cuts and the guide thats adjustable.

Have the same groover and have to say out of the tools that came in the starter kit i purchase a while ago it was the most useful. It is a craft tool and not a professional tool so results won't look professional. If you don't mind spending some money bruce johnson has some groovers on his website that would work better.

Try different angles or buff your tip.

The Tandy tools are marginal at best with poor quality control. This one is pretty good. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kyoshin-Elle-Leathercraft-Pro-Stitching-Adjustable-Leather-Groover-Creasing-Set-/110956246125?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19d581f46d In fact I have found all tools purchased from this seller to be good quality and much sharper than what tandy offers.
