  1. it's ok... i have an order in for the correct thread.... Thank you to everyone for all your help - i'm hoping that if/when i get back to my house after travelling this week, i'll have lots of packages on my doorstep - including the correct thread and a servo motor. I'll let you all know how i get on. It's already night and day better than it was - with new toys and the right materials - here's hoping she's like a new machine
  2. thanks for the replies! I did a complete overhaul on it today - set the timing of needle and hook, feed dog and eccentric. It's running a lot better now but still likes to look awful underneath the workpiece at the start of a run. Once going, it's sewing pretty well although the tension isn't as consistent as it needs to be. I think i'll put a new bobbin case in and maybe replace the upper tension discs in case that makes any difference. The one thing I did notice was that I think I'm missing a threading component although I've seen pictures and videos without it,,. Before passing through the eye from left to right, I think the thread is meant to pass through something at the top of the needle. I ordered the part but it doesn't seem to fit with the way I have my needlebar configured (the way I bought it) Could someone please post a close up picture of this piece if you have one please and if anyone could cast an opinion as to whether that could be causing the problems above - that would be awesome. Appreciate all the help! T
  3. I've searched high and low... i even sent the machine to a repair man but to no avail.... I bought a consew 225 a few years ago - it worked OK... it had temper tantrums from time to time but generally Ok. I took a break from sewing as I worked on some other projects for a couple of years and now have a leather upholstery project to tackle. I'm using the same thread & needles as before the break - T-210 with 140/22 needles which used to work well but i'm either getting loops around the bobbin case so it jams up after 4 or 5 stitches or huge, ugly loops of top thread under the work. Normally i'd assume it was due to low top tension but even fully cranked on I get the same problem. Please tell me I'm doing something dumb and this is an easy fix? This is driving me insane. groove on the needle is facing left - bobbin thread coming off the side nearest to you from left to right (but tried the other way too) and machine is threaded correctly - at least the same way i used to thread it when it used to work! Thanks, Tom
