Help With Hard To Install Bobbin

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a Najakima 280L from someone that would not take a minute to show me how to use it. I have always sewn with a drop-in bobbin machine so this is a big change. My biggest challenge is just removing and inserting the bobbin case. I don't understand why it is so hard? Is there a specific release point that I need to be at for it to come loose? I have managed to remove and insert it once, but I just refilled a bobbin (did I need to do anything other than remove the thread from the needle?) and I cannot get the bobbin back into the machine. It sews great, when I can get the bobbin in....

Try rocking the hand wheel when you put it in. One of my machines is a little tricky like that sometimes.

ok, I can try that. So there is nothing major that I am missing?

I have the same type of machine, just a different name. My bobbin case is sometimes tricky to get back in. It is the moving feed dog bar that covers the opening where the bobbin case has to be pressed in that causes this issue. As mentioned by the previous responder, simply rotating the hand wheel will move that feed bar into a position where the bobbin case can be popped in with less effort.

Just wanted to get back with a very big thank you. The rocking the hand wheel did the trick. Once it was in the right place, it slid right in, not in the right place, no amount of forcing is going to jam it in there. And I very much appreciate the explanation as to why it works. You all are the fountain of knowledge. Thanks!
