Another Noob From Columbus Ohio

Recommended Posts

I'm just getting started in leatherworking, I picked up some basic tools with some gift cards from christmas, and I'm interested in learning to make holsters, notebook covers, etc. I've got just about as much artistic talent as a boot, but I'm going to try :)

If you have a chance, take a look at some of the classes at the local Tandy on Morse Rd. I took their holster class to kick off my hobby, and I found it very helpful. I think their basic class goes into making a notebook cover as well as basic tooling.

They have a class starting Saturday (1/9/16), on basic floral carving. It runs from 10:00 - 3:30 for three sessions. The cost is $20.00. My skill level is about where yours is. Hope to see you there!

Thats great to hear. I just had a couple of low grade sides come in the mail from tandy outlet, I'm very happy with what I received. I'm going to take a whack at a notebook cover (started it last night), and see what happens.

I think I might have taken my holster class with you. About 2 years ago?

I was making a 1911 commander holster. That was a cool class. Been going to the open class on Thursday evenings. You just bring in whatever you have been working on and sit around with Scott and Christian.

I had the privilege of teaching a couple of holster classes and belt classes there a number of years ago.

Scott is one of the few folks I consider a true friend, . . .

May God bless,

Dwight
