  1. I have a like new skiving machine that I used a bit for shoemaking, but selling because I am moving and don't have space for it anymore, and I am not making shoes commercially. I've used it very little and it's in like-new condition. Its an Artisan NP-4H, which you can see here : http://www.artisansew.com/cutting.html. It's comes (bolted) with generously sized table and skiving radius accessories and manual. You can scroll down the page a bit to see the "Toro 1020" attached to a similar table. I live in San Francisco and would prefer a local sale, but shipping is an option at $150-$200 - I'd get you an exact quote based on your location. $700 + shipping. Originally purchased for $1,000 + shipping.
  2. I will try out the ones mentioned above. The key characteristics of the ideal pen is that it can wipe off and does not mark the leather, it also must not smudge if grazed. I complain about the thicker silver pen I have now, but perhaps it's OK as long as you cut to one side of the line.
  3. Anyone have a source for fine silver pens? I have only come across the ball-point versions which produce a pretty thick line.
  4. Hello, I have a single needle post-bed machine in San Francisco that I am learning to use, and would like to see if there is someone in the Bay area that can spend a few hours to go over tension, etc with my particular leather. For some reason stitches keep breaking and I feel like I just need some time with a sewing machine pro. Please send me an email at haus.n.franz [at] gmail [dot] com if you are interested.
  5. welcome to the site
