Small of the back holster for a mini Glock

Recommended Posts

Anyone make a comfortable or semi-comfortable small of the back holster for a Glock 27?

I had one that I misplaced and (just the holster) and do not know the maker.

It was a gun show model.

Anyway I am interested in getting one or if you willing to share a pattern I'd try my hand at making it.

It is not something I think I'd do a lot of.

Anyway any help is appreciated.

Allen

Here are photos of one I made up for a customer a few months ago. For a 1911-style pistol with 3-inch barrel/slide group.

Much like an Askins' Avenger in overall detail, belt slot on the aft side, tunnel loop on the fore side. (photos taken prior to final finishing).

Don't care much for the SOB style myself, but the customer wants one I will do it.

I try to steer folks away from the SOB holsters. Andy Artoonian at Horseshoe Leather gives excellent reasoning behind NOT using it. Since I'm pretty new to holster making, I try to learn from the pros. His reason (without trying to quote it directly) is that it places a chunk o' steel right across the spine, and that could have really bad results if a person fell/was pushed and landed on their back.

Most don't like it because it's difficult to draw without crossing your body.

Personally, I agree with all of the above. When a customer asks for recommendations they won't hear about SOB holsters from me. But when a customer tells me that they want a SOB holster, I make it and sell it to the customer. The smarter customers learn the deficiencies of the design pretty quickly, and many come back for something more practical, more comfortable.
