It is predominately Denatured Alcohol as long as you're talking about spirit based dyes, like Feibings. If it's water based (eco flo and such) then the reducer for that is water.

Holmesmarsh --------------------

I beleive its just that, specific brand dye reducer ! or thinner !

By- white spirit ? I'm thinking its what we here in the U.S.A. might refer to as Mineral spirits,

Which is a derivitive from Pine trees, having a turpentine/gum and is oil based.

Im under the impression either of these products could be used for thinning OIL based dyes ?

Im getting old, but still learning. have fun with it ! -------------Wild Bill46

The denatured alcohol that Chief mentions is called Methylated Spirit here in the UK. It's cheap and pretty easy to obtain. It reduces all the Fiebing's spirit dyes very effectively. The Fiebing's institutional dyes are water-based, so obviously water works well!
