Reinforcement On Pancake

Recommended Posts

hey guys i have a question. i dont really know what to call the style of pancake holster but i've seen it on here before i call it a two-peice pancake holster its basically a wrap around on the gun portion with a belt loop then a piece sewn onto that with another belt loop, if any of you know what im talking about or have made this style do you need to add some sort of leather reinforcement to the mouth? thanks guys

If I understand your question correctly, I believe the holster you refer to is the Askins Avenger holster, or clones thereof.

I have made them both ways, and prefer to have the wraparound piece that reinforces the mouth. But again, I have also had success without wrapping the trim piece around the mouth.

In the end, it is up to you.

Find threads by username "partice" on here for some beautiful examples of that style of holster.

RWP,

I believe your thinking of the HF-1 from Tucker Gunleater. I've made something similiar and William Tucker was my inspriration. I will not sell them as it was not my design, but thats just me. It was not an easy holster for me to make, but it is my favorite. It pulls the 1911 in real close in front and it does allow it to ride high because of all the rigidity from that front piece of leather. By the way, it is a Askins Avenger style, just with a belt loop in front instead of behind the slide. Semper-fi Mike
