Saddle and Tack leather care

Recommended Posts

There are many brands of leather care products out there, I was wondering which brand most people use and which ones they didn't like.

Which ones for new leather? Which one for older/dry leather restoration? Thanks for your .02!!

My repetoire consists mainly of the Fiebing's paste soaps in the metal cans - yellow, white and black. a white bar soap with lanolin, glycerin bar soap, neatsfoot oil and dubbin. I've cleaned over two hundred saddles, in all stages of mildew to dry and this has worked well for me.

I've used the paste soaps. I used the yellow paste on light colored leather, luckily it wasn't for anyone. It darkened it a little.

I'm still using Leather New when I clean and soap my saddles and gear. Mostly because that is how I was taught as oppossed to personal experience with other products, but I'm still pleased with the results.

Thanks. I guess I won't know which one I like best until I try it, but I thought I would see what the "experienced" used. I appreciate your input.
