Resources for creating Celtic-style artwork

Recommended Posts

This is still a freebie program, I think:

KnotTyer3D

does what it says. It ties knots in 3D. It ties simple knots (Figure of 8, Reef knot) and complex knots (Alpine), it ties scouting knots and fisherman's knots and, well, all kinds of knots.

Celtic available here:

I got this Celtic Knot Pattern Maker for Billy 2-shews to play with a few years ago, and he loved it. You use your keyboard to make patterns, and it's fun to use, as well as functional. Even I liked fooling around with it, and I don't do leatherwork anymore. LOL

Clanbadge

It costs about $70 I think, but it's worth it if you want to do knotwork and make your own designs with your computer. From the site:

There are over 200 different pieces

available in this font for you to play with!

You can assemble them into THOUSANDS OF DIFFERENT DESIGNS that are FULLY RESIZABLE.

You change the size of any of the designs by just changing the font size! From 1/8 of an inch to as big as you can print, they print with SMOOTH EDGES and NO "JAGGIES" - even at billboard sizes!

This font is really more of a design tool than a font, but because it is a font, you can USE IT WITH ANY PROGRAM THAT HAS A FONT MENU:

MS Word, WordPerfect, WordPad, Write, Excel, Quark, Page Maker, Publisher, Paint Shop Pro, Illustrator, Corel Draw, Photoshop, Flash, 3D Studio Max, AutoCad and thousands more....

Includes detailed instructions for installation and use, and more than 70 samples of Celtic knotwork that you can use, modify and build on.

You can just copy and paste the ready-made designs into any document in a word processor or in a graphics program. Choose a pattern that you like and then customize and modify it to best suit your needs. Copy parts from one knot into another to make a totally new design.

You can start making Celtic knots in minutes and take years to explore the myriad designs and complexity possible with this font.
