Still trying to figure out how to finish the holster, but I like the rugged look...

Also, Any advise on snaps? I could barely get these snaps to clear the leather...

i would like to use some sort of removable snap for different belt sizes...

Sandwich a "t nut" between the two layers of leather, then screw the male part of the snap into the t-nut along with the bottom layer of strap.

Follow?

If not, I can send some pictures ......tomorrow.....shops closed for the night:-)

T-nuts, size 6-32 x 1/4"

Insert Screw (6-32 x 3/8") through male of snap, and through btm layer of strap:

Thats pretty much what I do as well, except I use the T-nuts with the teeth, and I put in a small leather "washer" between the holster and the straps, to compensate for the thickness of the pants.

That's the way I've been doing it, too. I figured that attachment method out on my own, so I'm glad to see I'm doing it right! For an adjustable position strap, I'll use an 8-32 screw with the back of a chicago screw, so you can use different holes. Like this:
