Hey Folks, Let's see some images first! anyway, I've been seeking a Landis Model 30 Splitter for sometime now and decided I'd go to my local shoe repair shops and find it in person; that's how I got my 5-in-1 after all. Well, one guy brought out this machine and said "This machine is missing the skiver gears but the splitter itself works." And gave it to me for free. There is a sticker that reads "Richard Hess - Magstadt Stuttgart" Only problem is that I don't know anything about it, and not much about it seems to come up on the internet. I'm hoping somebody who knows more than I can chime in and let me know. To be honest, I wouldn't be intere…

Still had 2 kicking around - for my Pferd Mammut flexible shaft grinder (basically the same as the units from Suhner) - of which I actually own 3 power units - from 500 to 40 000 rpm. I use them for satinising the surface of brushed stainless - the belts come in all different grit grinding fleece or paper backed abrasive. The table top comes from an upgrade in a baking factory, where all wooden tables had to be replaced with stainless - sure cried that day cause I didn´t have a trailer with me on site and my Kangoo only fits small sheets - it is 40mm laminated beech - the kind of material that shouldn´t be just tossed into a container. The shelf/rest for th…

ISO, The best rawhide string cutter, preferably around $300 but open to all options. I have been looking for something similar to the Hansen String Cutter http://www.hansenstringcutter.com/page_12/Order_The_Hansen_String_Cutter.html and the Vaquero Package https://gfeller.us/product/vaquero-package/ is the closest thing I've found, but it does not have a splitter.

Hey all! I just found this old machine and want to bring it back to its former glory. I am looking for any information about this model, parts-list, manuals etc. I have tried contacting Fortuna directly without much luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, Still have a few motors kicking around the shop - want to make a motorized burnisher out of one of them. What is the best wood to use for the burnishing wheel ? Guess it is something like oak or harder - wood is not really my specialty - so any tips will be appreciated. Have a bud with a wood lathe - but I want to approach him with at least the wood in hand - he likes to moan and groan a lot if has to dip into his own stash - want to avoid that. Greetings Hans

Hi all, I've just bought an old bell skiver (Fortuna) powered by a three-phase clutch motor. I don't have three-phase power at home, so now I'm looking at possible options to get this machine running. Option one: replace the clutch motor with a servo. This comes with the downside of losing the vintage esthetics and the need to get the servo motor speed-calibrated correctly. Option two: buy a variable frequency drive (VFD) to convert single-phase to three-phase to power the motor. This also loses a little bit of the vintage esthetic, but the VFD can be hidden under the bench more easily I guess. For this option I have two directions to go in. The clutch mo…

Does anyone have input on the $1200 clicker press from Leather Machine Co? I’m in the market and this looks like a good price for a 5 ton. Just looking for some guidance. Thanks

Hii i want to make a bench burnisher like the cobra MP one out of a bench buffer. I found a sight ( thanks to a search here) that has the grooved wooden attachment, but does anyone know what the correct attachment ( and possibly where to get ) to fit the sanding drums to the other side? Looks like one would need a rubber drum or contact wheel of some sorts with a half-inch arbor hole? But I could be completely wrong
