Members ayn Posted May 2, 2012 Report Stitching Pony I made from mostly scrap wood & several hardware pieces, some improvised, that is an indespensable tool for me, especially since I have onset of arthritis in my powerhand! Until I can afford a Tippman machine,it serves me well! The design many may know, it was made based on the drafting & instructions by Al Stohlman in The Art of Hand sewing Leather by Al Stohlman, from Tandy. Quote
Members Blazin Posted May 2, 2012 Report That is a work of art in itself! I'd love to have the plans for that. Quote
Members ayn Posted May 4, 2012 Report Thank you Blazin for your compliment! I hope that my reply to your comment shall be helpful to you! The purpose for making the stitching pony/quarter horse was mutli-fold; out of practical necessity, since I have yet to obtain/afford a Tippmann-Boss machine, and needed a 'third pair of hands' to securely hold a leathercraft project as I stitched project together, and it actually helped to increase productivity time! With respect to where you can get the instruction book; Tandy Leather store usually has them available. The book title is "The Art Of Hand Sewing Leather", by Al Stohlman". .In the last few pages of the book, you shall find the diagram & instructions on how to make your own Stitching Pony. And maybe if your like me, if you lack one or two items in the construction of the stitching pony, improvise! I hope the information/reply was helpful to you fellow member! ayn That is a work of art in itself! I'd love to have the plans for that. Quote
Members ayn Posted May 4, 2012 Report Thanks much 'Bluesman' for your comment/compliment! It just so happened that I did actually write my name on the underside of support block. The stitching pony shall remain in service until the day I obtain a Tippmann Boss machine! Then I shall consider putting the stitching pony up for sale. ayn V ery cool. Sign it for it will be an heirloom. Quote
