Members tatehunt Posted February 13, 2012 Report Way cool!!!!! Is it part Dia de Los Muertos? Anyway it's a real eye catcher!!!! Great Job! Bill Thanks Bill. The artwork is a recreation of the graphic artist Stanley Mouse, who created poster and album art for many famous bands of the 60's and 70's era. Though he created art for the Grateful Dead and many other bands, he also has some Dia de Los Muertos art, as well as other genres. I have been a long time fan of his work, so this piece is a tribute of sorts. If the bag had't been for me, but for a customer, I would have done an original piece on the back. I liked this challenge, because it allowed me to play with two new mediums: Acrylic paints on leather, and the use of pyro. Some of the fine detail and shading was achieved with pyro. My father used to detail his decoy carvings with the burner set my mom gave to me, which made this attempt even more meaningful. I will definitely continue to use it for future work, as I really enjoyed experimenting with it. Thanks for looking! Quote
