leather compass archery arm guard

How do you find the strap/buckle system works on an armguard? My only experiment with buckle/strap armguard did not go well, kept falling down to my wrist. I love the look, and would love to find a way to make it work, but have been unsuccessful so far.

well to be honest i also like another fastening method more than the straps. If you see the other ones i made in this album, you ll see that i used elastic bands to make them fasten. I use them every day and they work fine. They dont slide down. But for this one i thought it would look better with straps. I did try it on and it stayed in place. Maybe its cause i didnt make the back of it too smooth? Or maybe you should just tighten the arm guard a bit more.
