Members Rohn Posted March 22, 2014 Report You have some nice stuff here. What do you use for finish on the holsters? Quote
Members countyholster Posted March 23, 2014 Report Hi Rohn, my finishes vary from one project to another. Standard Feibings or Eco Flo dyes. Or, Neetsfoot Compound - depending on the customers uses and needs. The holsters you commented on (and thanks for the comment!) were dyed with Tan Eco Flow, then brush buffed after buffing a darker Medium Brown, so as to get some of the color on the buffing brush and transfer to the tan dye. Worked out pretty well, and so I've been trying to perfect it. I did a holster a couple days ago with the same technique and it turned out really sharp. The shine is a careful spray of SaddleLac (found in any leather store). You gotta be careful with SaddleLac though as it can glob out of the nozzle - that will and has ruined the job. Do not buff and let it set till the lacquer sets up nicely. I've been told to not spray the body side of holsters as it may and probably will come off on the owners clothes. I do just a little anyway, for sheen. John Quote
